As per regulations of the Government of India, it is a mandatory requirement that all foreign nationals (excluding overseas citizens of India) visiting India on a long term visa (more than 180 days) register themselves with a Registration Officer after arrival in India. Individuals who fail to register within the specified time period will be charged a late fee.

As of 2018, the FRRO registration can be applied online under the e-FRRO scheme. Foreign nationals are now no longer required to appear in-person at the FRRO/FRO office, unless specifically required to do so.

You will need to visit the FRRO/FRO office when specifically called upon by the FRRO/FRO concerned. Intimation would be sent through SMS/email on the registered mobile/email-id.

What happens if there is delay in fee payment or document uploading?

Foreigner would be liable for prosecution/fines as per Indian laws, for any delay in fee payment/not attending interview etc.

How would I know about status of my application?

At every stage of processing, the status of your application would be shared via SMS/Email. You can also track your status by logging into your dashboard through registered Email-ID/Password.
