Semana Santa (The Holy Week)

Semana Santa

The Holy Week, celebrated in almost every city in Spain during the last week of Lent immediately before Easter, is a festival which lasts for a week and is filled with processions and other celebrations. It is a tribute of the Passion of Jesus Christ celebrated by Catholic religious brotherhoods.
The brotherhoods of the most important churches in Spain spend months planning and practicing their processions, resulting in an awe-inspiring experience. The festival sees hundredes of men and women marching the street with candles and idols. Even for a non-religious person, this festival can be an experience of a lifetime.

Tenerife, the carnival capital of Europe is bound to give its tourists the most authentic carnival experience of their life. The island is filled with glamour, lights, parties, and endless entertainment from the contests and parades.
The carnival festival from Cadiz gives its tourists the authentic Andalusian spirit… a party that converts the city into a place pulsing with music, energy and fun. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this unique fiesta celebrated every year in February.

This explosive party is held in commemoration of Saint Joseph in the city of Valencia, Spain. For an entire week, the city’s streets are filled with gigantic, colourful statues and figures. These impressive figures are a reference to the political or pop culture events that happened throughout the year, giving people a good flashback memory. During this week, the most interesting way to discover the city is to walk the Fallas route. The City of Arts and Sciences, which marked its 20th anniversary in 2018, is a must visit in the city of Valencia.
